Understanding Your DSLR: Buttons And Dials (Classroom)

  • WeWork 600 B Street San Diego, CA 92101 USA (map)

Your DSLR is a robust piece of technology capable of infinite photographic creations. This 1.5 hour class is designed for beginners and beginner-intermediate photographers, looking to better leverage the buttons and dials on the camera to create the emotive imagery you envision. In this class we’ll cover:

• The exposure triad: ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed
• Metering (how the camera interprets light)
• Different modes, from manual to fully-automatic, and when to use them
• Exposure compensation
• Focus setting options
• White balance
• Putting it all together: Deconstruction of a number of examples, showing how the camera settings shaped the image

This is a non-shooting class, but participants are asked to bring their DSLRs and their DSLR manuals. For hands-on learning, take the Buttons and Dial (In-Field) class generally offered the day after Buttons and Dial (Classroom). Class size limited to 8 people. Fee: $80
